Berber carpet is a favorite among all types of homeowners. Not only does Berber carpet come in assorted colors, there are also many different texture choices to choose from. This is because it can be made in different ways. While Berber carpet is extremely versatile when it comes to decorating, there are both pros and cons to putting Berber carpet in your home.
First, the Cons
There are a few drawbacks to having Berber carpet. Berber carpet is made by looping material. This makes it easy for Berber carpet, no matter what material it is made out of, to get caught and snagged. Unfortunately, once the carpet is snagged it is difficult to fix. Most Berber carpets are light colored which means they have to be vacuumed often to keep them looking nice or else dirt and grime will build up and your carpet will look dingy. You will have to use a suction only vacuum cleaner or else you run the risk of ruining your carpet.
Berber carpet is not a great carpet choice if you have pets. Their claws tend to get caught on the carpet and their fur gets stuck in the carpet, which is hard to remove. Another drawback to Berber carpet is that it is not very soft on your feet. If you are looking for something fluffy and soft, Berber carpet is a poor choice for you.
Now, the Pros
While there are only a few drawbacks to using Berber carpet, there are also benefits to it as well. Other than the fact that Berber carpet is extremely versatile, the biggest benefit in having Berber carpet is its durability. Berber carpet is extremely durable and tends to last longer than other types of carpet. This means that you will not have to replace your carpet as often. The material that is used to make Berber carpet tends to be quite liquid resistant so it is difficult to stain. The stains that do occur are usually difficult to see since Berber carpet is commonly multi-colored or flecked which helps hide stains.
Another benefit to getting Berber carpet is that it tends to be cheaper than other types of carpet; however, the cost does depend on the material the Berber carpet is made out of. Not all types of Berber carpets are cheap. The three main types of material used to make Berber carpet are wool, nylon, and olefin.
Wool tends to be the most expensive type of Berber carpet; however, it is also the softest and the most durable kind. Nylon is not as expensive as wool but it is not extremely cheap either. It is the most stain resistant and easiest Berber carpet material to clean. Olefin is the cheapest of the Berber carpet materials and does not last as long as the others. It is also the most difficult to keep clean. When it comes to Berber carpet you truly get what you are paying for. The more expensive the material, the longer it will last, and the nicer it will be.
